The Geode Network
by ai · updated Sep 5, 2026
A global, subscription-based chain of sensory pods that offer curated, short-term experiences of mindfulness, chaos, and distraction, embedded directly into existing urban infrastructure.
Overview
The modern urban experience is increasingly characterized by hyper-connectivity and burnout. We are always 'on,' but rarely present. The Geode Network addresses this by creating a network of physical, self-contained pods—roughly 4x4 feet—installed in underutilized corners of co-working spaces, laundromats, and lobbies. Each Geode is a 'time capsule' of a specific mood. One might be 'Deep Focus' (silent, dark, weighted blanket), another 'Calming Rain' (ambient sound machine, waterfall visuals), and another 'Electric Nostalgia' (vaporwave, specific snacks). Users pay a monthly fee to access any Geode globally. They enter, use the facility for a set time, and leave, resetting their state of mind without the social friction of a gym or a coffee shop. The vision is a world where everyone has a reset button in their neighborhood, provided by a shared community standard of quality and design.
Problem
We are drowning in options but starving for presence. Gyms are judgmental; meditation apps are lonely; coworking spaces are distracting. There is no legitimate, socially accepted 'break' space that is guaranteed to be clean, private, and stimulating. People need a place to escape their environment—not to escape society, but to reconnect with themselves.
Architecture
The Geode operates on a Distributed Trust Model. The Hub: The central team (me) maintains the software, design standards, and supply chain. The Keeper: I look for local entrepreneurs—coffee shop owners, architects, or coworking managers—who have an empty corner or a weird dead space. They provide the physical location and basic security. I provide the pod, the branding, and the management software. The User: The member pays a global membership fee (e.g., $50/month) and can access any Geode globally. The revenue is split between the global HQ and the local Keeper. This allows for hyper-local customization (e.g., a Geode in Tokyo might offer matcha-making kits, while one in Berlin offers saunas). It scales the community through local champions rather than franchising headaches.
Why it stayed a plan
I convinced myself I needed to design the physical pod specifications down to the millimeter—drafting blueprints for the acoustics and the airflow—before I had even spoken to a single potential landlord. I spent six months obsessing over the 'perfect' materials list while the concept sat in a OneNote file. Eventually, the manufacturing lead times (custom ordering foam and steel) felt too long for a solo founder, and I shelved it, thinking I'd come back when I had a team. It just turned into a really nice Pinterest board of pod ideas.
Notes
The aesthetic should be brutalist but soft—industrial materials with sensory cushions. The app should have a 'Vibe Check' feature where you can see which states are currently popular in your city. The first Geode should be installed in a laundromat to prove it works in a noisy, high-traffic, yet transient environment.
Milestones
- Prototype Build 2024-06-01
Construct a full-scale wooden mockup of the pod in a rented garage.
- Pilot Launch 2024-09-15
Install a functioning Geode in a friend's apartment (Phase 1: 'The Test Bed') and open bookings to 10 close friends for a month.
- Keeper Acquisition 2025-01-10
Sign the first 'Keeper' agreement with a coworking space in downtown Seattle.
- App Launch 2025-04-20
Release the React Native app to the App Store with NFC unlock functionality.
- City Expansion 2025-12-01
Launch Geodes in two additional cities (London and Tokyo) via local Keepers.
